Hurricane Nate Downgraded To Tropical Depression After Making Second US Landfall

Alabama and Florida declared federal emergency over Nate Federal disaster officials will help coordinate relief efforts in Alabama after President Donald Trump approved an emergency declaration for the state, the one hit hardest by Hurricane Nate. He later added Florida to the declaration. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), “is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency,” said the declaration, made at 11:55 a.m. EDT. The agency will reimburse 75% of relief measures costs undertaken by state and local officials, under the declaration. New Orleans Declares State Of Emergency, Evacuations Ordered Ahead Of Hurricane Nate

The precautions were taken after the National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane warning from Grand Isle, Louisiana, to the Alabama-Florida border, as well as for New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain.As of 2 a.m. ET Saturday, Hurricane Nate was located 150 miles northwest of the western tip of Cuba or about 420 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River.
